No. 1 Georgia gets a short week to prepare for its oldest rival. Auburn visits Athens on Saturday, Oct. 17, for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN, according to the Athens Banner-Herald. For viewers without cable, the paper lists Fubo as a streaming option.

The Bulldogs (6-0) arrive off a landmark Saturday in Tuscaloosa. The Banner-Herald's Marc Weiszer reported that the win at Alabama was Georgia's first in that stadium since 2007 and Kirby Smart's first regular-season victory over the Crimson Tide as Georgia's coach. Smart has a team that is unbeaten and ranked first in the country, and now he has to get it ready again in a matter of days.

Auburn will be the fresher team. The Tigers (3-2, 1-2 SEC) had an open date last weekend after a 24-14 loss at Tennessee on Oct. 3, so they get two weeks of preparation against Georgia's one. Smart pointed to the imbalance after the Alabama game, noting that Auburn was home with a week off watching his team play. "We've got a quick turnaround. That's life in the SEC," Smart said, as quoted by the Banner-Herald.

Auburn is in its first season under Alex Golesh, who came over from South Florida. A 1-2 conference start leaves the Tigers little room for error in the SEC standings, and a road win over the top-ranked team would change the shape of Golesh's first year. History is against him. Georgia has won nine straight in the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry, a run that has turned the series into a long stretch of Bulldogs control.

The market is pricing in a tenth. On Novig, one of the venues listing the game, Georgia is favored at -1011, with the spread at Georgia -19.5 and the total at 49.5. Pinnacle has the best sportsbook price on the Bulldogs at -1167. Current numbers are on the Auburn at Georgia odds page.

For Georgia, the risk this week is mostly about itself. Teams that clear a big road hurdle often struggle to match that intensity the following Saturday, and Auburn's extra week of rest and film work makes that harder. Smart's group has looked like a team that can handle it so far. Coming out of Tuscaloosa with the No. 1 ranking intact, the Bulldogs can't afford a flat afternoon at home against a rival.

For Auburn, the bye gave Golesh's staff time to fix what went wrong in Knoxville. The Tigers held Tennessee to 24 points but scored only 14, and putting up enough points to stay close with Georgia will likely decide whether this one is competitive into the fourth quarter.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. More coverage of both programs is on our Georgia and Auburn team pages.
