Texas drops from No. 1 to No. 7 in AP Poll after Red River loss to Oklahoma
Texas fell six spots to No. 7 in the Week 6 AP Poll after a 27-24 loss to Oklahoma. Georgia moves up to No. 1, and Florida comes to Austin next.

Texas no longer holds the top spot in the country. After a 27-24 loss to Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry, the Longhorns dropped six places to No. 7 in the Week 6 AP Poll, On3 reported on Sunday.
Georgia took over at No. 1 after a road win at Alabama. Even with that loss, the Crimson Tide sit one spot ahead of Texas at No. 6. The coaches were a little kinder to the Longhorns, who came in at No. 6 in the Coaches Poll released earlier in the day, according to On3.
The Sooners got no ranking for the upset. Oklahoma finished outside the Top 25 with 44 points in the others-receiving-votes group.
The SEC still has a big presence in the poll. On3 counted nine league teams in the Top 25 and four in the top 10: Georgia, Alabama, Texas and No. 9 Ole Miss. Missouri and Tennessee each moved up one spot, to No. 13 and No. 14. Kentucky went from unranked to No. 15 after beating LSU in overtime, and Mississippi State rose to No. 16. LSU, which was No. 10 going into the trip to Lexington, slid down to the bottom part of the poll. It is listed at No. 22 in the published Top 25.
For Texas, the loss doesn't end its season, but it leaves little room for another one. The Longhorns already have wins over No. 4 Ohio State and Tennessee, and On3 notes three more ranked opponents remain on the schedule: Ole Miss, Missouri and Mississippi State. A second loss would put Texas in a much tougher spot in both the SEC race and the playoff picture.
The next opponent is Florida, which comes to Austin unranked. The Gators fell out of the poll from No. 16 after a loss to South Carolina, only two weeks after they were ranked eighth. The matchup has some added tension off the field, too. On3 also reported this weekend that five-star wide receiver Easton Royal flipped his commitment from Texas to Florida.
The market still has Texas as a clear choice in the Florida at Texas game. The Longhorns are favored at -365 on Novig, one of the venues pricing the game, with a 9.5-point spread and a total of 53.5. FanDuel's best sportsbook price on Texas is -350.
The other two teams in this story also play this week. After its win in Austin, Oklahoma hosts newly ranked Kentucky and is favored at -208 on Novig, with a 6.5-point spread and a total of 43.5 for Kentucky at Oklahoma. LSU tries to recover from the overtime loss when it hosts Mississippi State. The Tigers are favored at -355 on Novig, with a 10.5-point spread and a total of 59.5 in Mississippi State at LSU, and BetMGM lists LSU at -400.
Games like these will shape the next poll. For Texas, a clean win over Florida would be the first step back toward the top of the rankings.
