Georgia takes No. 1 in Coaches Poll as Texas falls to No. 6 and LSU drops to No. 21
Georgia moved to No. 1 in the Week 7 Coaches Poll. Texas fell five spots after losing to Oklahoma, and LSU slid 11 places after an overtime loss at Kentucky.

Georgia is the new No. 1 in the Week 7 Coaches Poll. Texas fell five places to No. 6 after losing the Red River Showdown, and LSU dropped 11 spots to No. 21 after its overtime loss at Kentucky.
CBS Sports reported the new rankings on Sunday. Georgia received 60 of the 74 first-place votes after its 20-17 win at Alabama. Notre Dame is No. 2, followed by Miami at No. 3, Indiana at No. 4 and Ohio State at No. 5. The Crimson Tide did not move after the home loss and stayed at No. 7. That put them one spot behind Texas, which fell 27-24 to Oklahoma in Dallas and is now 4-1.
LSU took the biggest drop of any SEC team. The Tigers came into the weekend at No. 10, lost in overtime in Lexington and fell to 4-2. They now sit at No. 21 with 361 points. Kentucky moved the other way, climbing from No. 25 to No. 17.
The rest of the conference shifted as well. Ole Miss moved up one spot to No. 10. Missouri rose three places to No. 13, and Tennessee stayed at No. 14. Mississippi State went from No. 20 to No. 19. Florida fell out of the poll from No. 15 and received 32 points in the others receiving votes. Oklahoma got 50 points in that group after beating the Longhorns. Outside the league, UCLA made the largest jump. The Bruins went up 10 spots to No. 12 after a 17-15 win at Oregon, and the Ducks fell to No. 25.
The weekend ahead could test both teams that slid. LSU hosts No. 19 Mississippi State, which makes it a ranked matchup for a team that can't afford another loss in the playoff race. The Tigers are favored at -344 on Novig, one of the venues pricing the game. theScore Bet has LSU at -380, the spread is 10.5 points and the total is 58.5. Prices and matchup details are on the Mississippi State at LSU page.
Texas hosts Florida, which also lost last weekend. The Longhorns are favored at -344 on Novig and -375 at FanDuel, with a 9.5-point spread and a total of 53.5. More is on the Florida at Texas page. A win would keep Texas in the top 10 with room to climb. A second straight loss would put its standing in the conference race at risk.
Georgia's first week at No. 1 starts at home against Auburn. The Bulldogs are favored at -1150 on Novig and -1100 at BetMGM, with an 18.5-point spread and a total of 48.5. Details are on the Auburn at Georgia page. Georgia is 6-0 and has already won at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The voters have made the Bulldogs the team to beat, and it's now up to them to hold that spot through the second half of the season.
